The short answer: because of my super supportive, loving husband.

One day when our LO was super tiny and napping, he caught me typing away on the computer. He asked what I was doing and I said that I was replying to a good teacher friend who had some questions / wonderings about teaching reading to second graders. This school year is her first year of second grade having moved from an older grade. Colton said, “you should start a blog! It’d be fun.” I laughed it off… Um, who would want to read what I had to say? What would I say?

So, after some thinking, here I am a few months later… starting a blog!

My husband wanted to include his comments about it all:

Ally has taught me many things over the years. I’ve long told folks that every time I walked into her classroom, I fell in love with her all over again. She was always so patient while serving as teacher, disciplinarian, caretaker, and friend to her students. These being just a few of the roles that good teachers must fill. I always thought she nurtured each student like she would her own child, and now I get to see just how she does nurture her—our—own. I suggested that she share her stories about being a teacher and a mom. I know that it will fill her heart to write about what she loves… and hopefully it can be a resource for teachers and friends to find joy and teach with love in the classroom and at home.

I hope you will get something out of reading this blogif nothing more, some laughs at least.
